Michael Burry's Most Important Tweets of 2023

Legendary investor Michael Burry occasional drops some wisdom about the markets on the Twittersphere.

Here are his significant tweets from 2023.

This is a good chart/guide.
(The Y-axis shows uninsured deposits greater than $250k at major banks. The X-axis shows the realized losses percentage of CET1 Capital.)

The crisis could resolve very quickly. I am not seeing true danger here.

2000, 2008, and 2023, it is always the same. People full of hubris and greed take stupid risks, and fail. Money is then printed. Because it works so well.

It is possible today we found our Enron.

It's time memesters look up what a death spiral convertible is.

How Many Years from Now Will the Bespoke Tranche Opportunity Haunt Us?

The warning at the end of the "The Big Short" starring Christian Bale, Steve Carell, and Ryan Gosling issued a warning at the end of the film when it hit theaters in December 2015.

The CDO financial instrument that one was of the things that helped spur the mortgage/economic crisis in 2007 and 2008 has been repacked by Goldman Sachs as a BTO (Bespoke Tranche Opportunity) and could wreak serious havoc on investors the next time there is a housing debt crisis.

The Future of Battery Technology for Electric Vehicles and Solar Energy Storage

8 Potential EV and Hybrid Battery Breakthroughs
Article from 2012 that covers a slew of different technologies.  One of the most promising battery technologies is being developed by IBM and uses oxygen for Lithium Air Carbon.  It's been coined a 'breathing' battery that expels oxygen when the battery is recharged.

Lithium Silicon could reduce the charging time needed since silicon can expand and contract as it absorbs and discharges ions.  It is being developed at Northwestern University.

A Carbon Foam Capacitor Hybrid could combine the energy storage density of traditional chemical batteries with the delivery efficiency of a solid-state capacitor.  "The unit can be recharged thousands of times without showing signs of degraded performance."

Lithium Silicon Polymer would store more energy than the batteries used in current EVs because the contacts between connections between electrodes are not broken when they expand and contract.

Lithium Sulfur Carbon Nanofiber uses "carbon nanotubes coated on the inside with sulfur" that could store up to ten times the the energy of regular lithium batteries.

Lithium Manganese Composite/Silicon Carbon Nanocomposite
Envia's primary development is a proprietary cathode material based on manganese, an abundant metal that is stable when used in the battery. Manganese is also less expensive than the more common cobalt-based cathode material, Envia says. The firm has received grants from U.S. auto companies and federal and California energy agencies to continue developing the battery for commercial use; it says the battery could give a range of 300 miles in an EV.

News related to tomorrow's top solar providers:

Top Stocks to Watch in Solar Energy -- The Motley Fool
"First Solar, SolarCity, and SunPower are worth watching because they are industry leaders with very different strategies in the solar sector. First Solar will benefit if utility-scale projects boom, while SolarCity would be the winner if residential solar grows, and SunPower would hit pay dirt if installers focus on efficiency."

April 2015
"It's worth pointing out that, contrary to what you might expect, the price of oil actually doesn't have much of a correlation with the price of electricity here in the United States," Cramer said.

In recent years, SunEdison has transformed its business from supplying silicon wafers to the solar and semiconductor industry to being both a full service solar energy provider and an investor in a huge pipeline of projects.

Best Selling Electric Cars of 2015 and 2014

For the first half of 2015, the Telsa Model S is the best selling Electric Car in the U.S with 11,254 cars.  For the month of June, however, the Nissan Leaf just barely won, selling 2,074 units vs. 2,054 for the Telsa Model S.

Considering the price of the two cars, I would expect the Leaf to sell 25-35% more units since it's less than half the price of the Model S, but apparently the consumers with upper income are (for the time being) fueling the popular of the Model S.

Where it doesn't snow, I will go

The following snowfall map of the U.S. could very well define where I end up living most of my adult life.  Some areas of Montana get way too much snow for my taste.  If skiiing, snowboarding, or snowmobiling were a big part of my life, the snow would not be a problem.  Icy roads and dangerous (or prevented) traveling make living in "the last best place" sometimes a burden, especially in December through March.

The whole country

Where I would like to live.  Any areas without any significant snowfall.  If I want snow, I can always visit Montana.

Where I live now.

Cancer immunity and viruses

Excerpts from this article, written by a radio-oncologist
IS CANCER CAUSED BY VIRUS?

Under microscope, Rife observed conversion was due to accumulated toxins and waste products in the cells in different parts of body. He came to the conclusion that exposure to carcinogens slowly alters the constitution and makes body ready for cancer. BX viruses then grow within the body and invade the cells to cause cancer.

According to Dr. John Cairns of Harvard University School of Public Health, chemotherapy is curative only in 2% to 3% of all cancer patients although it is routinely given to more than 50% cancer patients in America.
