A Soulmate is an Ordinary Person Who Changes Your Reality [Quote]

Your soulmate is not someone that comes into your life peacefully.  It is who comes to make you question things, who changes your reality, somebody that marks a before and after in your life.  It is not the human being everyone has idealized, but an ordinary person, who manages to revolutionize your world in a second...

You'll Miss Any Chance You Don't Take

You'll miss any chance you don't take.

A few weeks I approached my boss about selling photo greeting cards in our store.  He was more than happy to buy some of my work because he usually had to go about finding cards he liked to sell in the store.  He chose 14 images and ordered almost 100 cards.  That's an excellent start!  And all because I took the time to ask one question.

This spurred me to take action and try to sell my cards at other stores in the area.  Who knows, this could end up being a nice side business and a great way to promote my work.

Quote about Experience

Experience is not what happens to a man. It is what a man does with what happens to him.

Interview excerpts with Sam Jones

About Shooting Film
My feeling is, when film is the best thing to be used in a certain situation and you love film then you should use it. I love the way a negative comes out of my Mamiya camera or my Leica camera. I love the way it looks straight out of the chemicals, the first time you see it. I never feel that way with a digital file. With digital you have to work hard to get that feeling. I think most people who became photographers did so because they had that one moment in the darkroom where something came up and they looked at it and went “wow that’s cool.”

Giving the actors their take
I remember a line from a biography about one of my favorite directors where he said, always roll one for them after you get the one you like. After I get what I need then I always say now you do what you want to do and I’ll just follow along. Some people are like no, no you tell me what to do, but some really open up at that point, and great stuff can happen.

Reasons to do a job
In my head there’s always three reasons to do a job. It’s either money, creative or relationship, or a combination of those.

About Filmmaking
Filmmaking was never about the equipment, except in terms of budget. Filmmaking is storytelling, and if you don’t know how to do that, there is no piece of equipment in the world that will help you.

Think Small to Get Things Done

According to Zen's Leo Babauta, thinking small is less intimidating and therefore creates less friction in your workflow. The more friction you face, the lower the odds are that you'll plow speedily through a given task. "But more than that, small tasks and projects are victories. You can quickly get to completion and feel great about it. And that compels you to keep going," says the author.

Being a Wedding Photographer

Don't miss the details. Follow the story. Above all, have fun.
- Larry Stanley, about wedding photography.

Quote About Travelling from Before Sunset

That's what I like about travelling--you can sit down, maybe talk to someone interesting, see something beautiful, read a good book, and that's enough to qualify a good day. You do that at home and everyone thinks you're a bum.
- Before Sunset

Jay Leno and Rush Limbaugh

LENO: Like I tend to come from the, "Is it cold in here?" kind of guy, and you're I think more of a "close that damn window."

Tell Obama, "No, we do not want you owning car companies. No, we do not want you running the banks. No, we don't want you taking over student loans. And, no, we do not want nationalized health care."

. . .But we haven't saved them [General Motors]. We saved the unions.

. . .The government cannot run the private sector.

I'm just saying the market will fix itself for people far better than a bunch of people in Washington with no experience in it tinkering in it and trying to control it.

I'm saying we've got enough mistakes the federal government's run. We don't need to compound it with more programs.

Jay, I'll tell you what really worries me about it. Forget the intricacies of health care. If the government gets control of health care, that's the single best way that they get to control every aspect of our lives: what we eat, what we drive -- because it will all have impact on health care costs, their responsibility via our taxes, and it's just a mechanism whereby government grows and grows and grows and we lose liberty and freedom to it. And that's what the problem with nationalized health care is.

Quote about 9-11 Truth movement

There's still a lot of people that are upset with this information, but that's part of the process
of learning the truth sometimes. We have to go through that process of being disturbed.

Sidekicks Quotes

You must realize that the greatest weapon you ever possess is self-control.

No anger. You are here to confront bricks. Not that stupid boy.

Gym Teacher: Cellini! I don't remember asking for your opinion.

Dad: What is that smell?
Barry: I don't know.
Dad: It must be a sewage backup around here.

When you learn to control them, you will have fewer dreams, but they will be richer ones.

Karate Event Announcer: Hey check this out. Here's a guy, gonna break bricks wearing an apron.

Chalini: He started it.
Gym teacher: If that's true kid, you have less brains than a woodpecker on an aluminum telephone pole.

Quote: Life can only be found

Life can be found only in the present moment. The past is gone, the future is not yet here, and if we do not go back to ourselves in the present moment, we cannot be in touch with life.

- Thich Nhat Hanh

Quote: The present moment

The present moment

The secret of transformation,
is in the way we handle this very moment.
