There is Still Hope For Biden to Win - Wisconsin, Michigan, and Nevada will Decide

Update 11/5/20 10:30am MST:

Biden now has a 603,807 votes in Nevada to Trump's 595,020 votes, with 76% reporting (only slightly up from late on Wednesday).  The lead for Biden has grown from 8,000 votes to a little over 11,000 votes.  It's continuing to look promising for a Biden win!

---

As of 9:30am MST on November 4th, Joe Biden holds a very narrow lead in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nevada.  He must win all three of these to become president.

As shown in the screenshot below, Nevada is only reporting 67% right now and there's only a difference of 8,000 votes, something that will be a nail biter until all the votes are counted.

The lead Biden holds in Michigan and Wisconsin are a little more certain since they are both 95%+ reporting.

Biden's lead in Michigan is ~33,000 votes and in Wisonsin, his lead is ~20,000 votes.

22 States with Shelter in Place Orders as of March 26th

From the New York Times article:
See Which States and Cities Have Told Residents to Stay at Home

"This means at least 212 million people in 22 states, 64 counties, 16 cities and one territory are being urged to stay home."

The NYT article did not include Montana, where the governor issued a Shelter in Place order that takes effect on Saturday, March 28.  Montana would be the 23rd state to ask residents to stay home, unless another state takes action earlier.

Montana's Governor issued a shelter in place order shortly before the first COVID-19 death happened in the state.

"The order to stay at home, which takes effect Saturday at 12:01 a.m. and expires April 10, will have a dramatic effect on day-to-day life here. Bullock said Thursday he understands the hardships it places on Montanans, but told residents it's a necessary step to do everything possible to try to prevent an even sharper spike in COVID-19 cases that would flood the state's health care system."

Brett Kavanaugh's Undoing

Your past can come back to haunt you, and for would-be Supreme Court judge Brett Kavanaugh, a "one time" incident of sexual assault may prevent him from ascending to the high court.

A Day in the Life of a Young Freelancer, part 1

One of my friends is a 25 year old web developer freelancer who also happens to hold a day job.  Here's what a busier day looks like for him:

6:54am - Two text messages received (from a client who texted him at 9:20pm the previous night to ask if he could help with a project by the next day in the morning).  These text messages woke him up when he was trying to get some much needed sleep.

9:30am - Luckily he's wide awake now after not sleeping well.  He manages to squeeze in a remote meeting with the above mentioned client.  The client is not very computer savvy and often takes a lot of coaching just to find a button on the screen.  This client does not own a computer mouse.  Surprisingly, the over 40 client is able to start their screen sharing session quickly.

10:01am - The meeting's objective is finished just in time.  He races downstairs, gulps a protein shake for breakfast (while driving), and zips off to his day job, hoping to be on time.

2:20pm - While on his lunch break at his retail day job, he listens to a voice mail from his biggest freelance client that something on an e-commerce website needs to be fixed ASAP.  The client does not say what needs to be fixed, but says it's "urgent". He calls back the client and has to leave a voice mail explaining that he will only be available from 6:20pm to 6:40pm to fix the the problem because he already has an evening commitment from 7pm to 9pm.

6:25pm - After leaving work about 10 minutes late to finish a purchase order, he arrives home and sits down to check out the problem with the e-commerce site. He knows the client is going to guilt trip him into spending time fixing the problem the next morning if he can't fix it right away.

6:35pm - By God's grace the e-commerce site problem only required one line of code to fix, but it was a major problem.  He emails and texts the client to let them know that the fix has been added.

7:20pm - After eating a quick dinner he arrives to his social event 20 minutes late, missing one of the most important parts of the event.

9:15pm - After finishing his social event, he's too tired to attend a smaller fun social gathering, and heads home.

10:50pm - He deletes a few hundred old non-personal emails from his Gmail inbox, creates a few filters to lower his inbox count, and unsubscribes from a few promotional emails.

11:00pm - He reviews matches on an online dating site and sends icebreakers to several women.

11:30pm - He checks his email and a small client has sent him an email message with two email message attachments that cannot be opened, he emails the client before going to bed to alert them to the problem.

About the swine flu

  • National Public Health Emergency declared in April.
  • Unprecedented effort to promote the H1N1 vaccine.
  • Not more lethal than the influenza strains that circulate every year.
  • People over 60 apparently have antibodies to the H1N1 flu.
"That's the way you get natural, long lasting, robust immunity is you recover from an infection and you have those antibodies that last you for a long time."

"A vaccination only provides a temporary immunity at best, if it works at all."

Jay Leno and Rush Limbaugh

LENO: Like I tend to come from the, "Is it cold in here?" kind of guy, and you're I think more of a "close that damn window."

Tell Obama, "No, we do not want you owning car companies. No, we do not want you running the banks. No, we don't want you taking over student loans. And, no, we do not want nationalized health care."

. . .But we haven't saved them [General Motors]. We saved the unions.

. . .The government cannot run the private sector.

I'm just saying the market will fix itself for people far better than a bunch of people in Washington with no experience in it tinkering in it and trying to control it.

I'm saying we've got enough mistakes the federal government's run. We don't need to compound it with more programs.

Jay, I'll tell you what really worries me about it. Forget the intricacies of health care. If the government gets control of health care, that's the single best way that they get to control every aspect of our lives: what we eat, what we drive -- because it will all have impact on health care costs, their responsibility via our taxes, and it's just a mechanism whereby government grows and grows and grows and we lose liberty and freedom to it. And that's what the problem with nationalized health care is.

Quote about 9-11 Truth movement

There's still a lot of people that are upset with this information, but that's part of the process
of learning the truth sometimes. We have to go through that process of being disturbed.

Salmonella Incubation Period

With all of the recent intense media coverage about certain Peanut Butter products being tainted with Salmonella, I wanted to find out a little bit about Salmonella's incubation and treatments.

From a Cornell Press Release:

Once Salmonella has been ingested, the "incubation time" or period from ingestion until the first symptoms of illness occur ranges from 12 to 72 hours. The time to illness may vary depending on many things such as the host's overall fitness and age, the amount and serotype of Salmonella ingested (with some serotypes as few as 20 cells), and the presence of various "stress" factors such as whether the person is undernourished, etc.
Salmonella symptoms are similar to other food poisoning: diarrhea, cramps, vomiting, etc. According to the Mayo Clinic, there's no reliable treatment for Salmonella. Treatment involves antibiotics, fluid replacement, and avoiding milk products to alleviate abdominal pains. These treatments are usually for people with weakened immune systems and immuno-compromised people.

For healthy people, the symptoms "subside within several days to two weeks" without treatment.
