America Needs to Adopt Switzerland's Gun Laws, like, Yesterday!

Approximately 25% of gun owners in Switzerland use their weapons for military service.
Switzerland has a stunningly high rate of gun ownership — here's why it doesn't have mass shootings

Localities can chose who receives weapons and anyone deemed violent or dangerous can be refused a gun. People can be vetted before owning a gun.

Why the Second Ammendment Needs to Be Rewritten for the 21st Century

There are many, many reasons to rewrite the second amendment to once and for all end the nonsensical gun control debate. Second Amendment fanatics like to conveniently ignore the historical context of why the framers wrote the 2nd amendment and why it is sorely outdated in the 21st century. "Well regulated militias" anyone? They are obsolete and extremists tend to join them today!

Multiple former *conservative* Supreme Court justices have been interviewed and said that the amendment needs to be rewritten.

Until 2008, the Supreme Court did NOT interpret the amendment as giving individual citizens the right to own guns. The framers intended them for state militias in case the federal government got too much power. (source: Justices, Ruling 5-4, Endorse Personal Right to Own Gun)

Gun extremists will also point to the history of the Soviet Union, Cambodia, Uganda, and other nations that took away guns from their citizens and proceeded to commit genocide. America is not remotely close to communism or a banana republic, so this point is not a strong argument. They have to rely on insane hypotheticals to make their argument--there is no present day rationale for more guns than there are people in our country. There are currently about 393 million guns in the United States owned by citizens. (source: There are more guns than people in the United States. [Washington Post] )

I've done a lot of reading and listening on this topic, and if you still ardently support the 1770s second amendment, I suggest you do more reading to fully grasp the history and why it is no longer relevant today. Gun lobby has hijacked and corrupted the intent and purpose of the second amendment.

Individual states could grant gun ownership for home defense and hunting,. The insanity that has happened in Montana with wild-west style concealed gun carry now allowed at banks, bars, and college campuses is a recipe for disaster. I DO NOT feel safer seeing people carry guns in public and I have lived in Montana my entire life. Only law enforcement and security need to carry guns in public places.

Why the threats during the 1770s colonial America are both qualitatively and quantitatively far removed from the threats we face in the 21st century.  Most warfare is shadow warfare against our foreign adversaries and American citizens are not facing a takeover by the government.

Second amendment fanatics are sometimes ignorant of the full historical context. Some often ignored facts about the scope of the second amendment.

The only plausible, but highly improbable catalysts for the institution of martial law would be

In the highly unlikely event that the government tried to confiscate all guns, gun owners would likely hide their weapons, or band together and refuse to surrender them.

The United States populace owns a very high number of guns compared to the rest of the world.

Gun ownership per person has soared compared to the population since 2009.

Some states are enacting radically far-right gun de-regulation, including Montana, where normal people can now carry concealed firearms in bars, banks, and college campuses, which could present some dangerous vigilant situations. Active shooter situations

1,000 pound woman accused of murder

"Half-Ton Killer" [Youtube]
News documentary about a 1,000 pound woman who is accused of murdering her nephew by sitting on him.

Her skin is prone to infection unless it's cleaned.  She is totally dependent on her husband for everything.

Morbidly obese patients tend to eat about 18,000 calories per day.  A regular person eats closer to 2,000 calories per day.  Patients that are bed bound have to have an enabler, that is how they get to be that big.
~ Dr. Bryan Lipsen

She admitted to the doctor that she would eat three or four cakes a day.

By only age 23, she found it increasingly difficult to support her own weight.

Each one of her buttocks is probably at least 120 pounds.
~ Dr. Lipsen

She had been bed-bound for six years.

She is a prisoner in her own body.
~ Dr. appointed to monitor Mayra's health to see if she can stand trial.
