How to Archive Old Video Projects and Limit Hard Drives

 Create a Master Version of the Video

* Save the final video at the highest quality you can when exporting. This could also be what you're uploading to Youtube.

The example format is Pro Res 422 HQ.


Collect & Backup Only the Clips that Made it Into the Final Project:

Media Manage/Consolidate

This copies all footage used in the project into one folder.

In Premiere:
File > Project Manager

Choose Collect Files and Copy to a New Location

(Can choose specific sequences to do this consolidation, your final project sequence or more things, like B-roll stringers. Check the box on the right hand size to "Exclude Unused Clips".

In Final Cut Pro

File > Consolidate Library Media.
