How to Add Transparent Dividers to the Dock

Here's a quick Terminal command featured on Mac OS X hints that will create movable, transparent dividers in the dock.

10.5: Add multiple spacers to the Dock - Mac OS X Hints

You can input the same command in Terminal several times to add multiple spacers without having to close Terminal and reopen it to add more spacers. The Dock must be restarted to view the newly added spacers.

I've separated my icons by web dev, graphics, utilities, tools, and video apps.

Customize it for your needs!

** I first stumbled on the transparent spacers while watching the VideoCast #72 about CSS Tips and Tricks.

There are several little apps out there that can put visual separators in the dock, but I prefer the transparent dividers for the cool appearance and added visual space.
