Skype will only receive calls if you are "online"

It appears that Skype will only show the incoming call if your status is set to "online". My status was set to "Away" and the call did not ring on my computer.

Today a business contact tried to call me back, but he must have been sent right to voice mail, because a few seconds later I had a new voice message.
